Grief Prevention is a plugin for Minecraft 1.16 that allows a player to create a land claim of their own to protect their belongings and anything they should build within the claim.
How to claim?
New players get automatic claims around the first chests they place, so even if you’re not familiar with Grief Prevention yet, you are still being protected under the plugin. When a player is building outside of his claim, a warning will appear in-chat to notify the player that they’re unprotected, and the corners of the claim will be shown with gold blocks and glowstone. If a player decides they’d like to create a town or city of their own, a subdivision tool is granted to organize the area.
To create a claim, hold a golden shovel in your hand and right click two blocks that will represent the two corners of your claim. Claims will always be made in a square pattern and all blocks any height within that square are protected under the claim.
It is impossible to grief a land claim. There is no way to build or break in a claim not owned by you unless granted permission by the owner of the claim. You cannot open any containers, use buttons/levers, or sleep in beds in a claim you do not own. Claims do not take damage from TNT or creeper explosions. Endermen and silverfish cannot make block modifications in a claim. Players cannot steal water from water sources or trample crops in a claim that is protected. Claims reach the maximum block height, so no claims can be made above an already existing claim. Fluids will not flow into a claim from outside. No placing blocks via TNT/Sand/Gravel cannon. Pets and loot are also protected under Grief Prevention. Players can’t pick up what another player dropped upon death without given permission. All types of pets are protected everywhere, even outside of land claims.
Grief Protection also provides wilderness protection and rollback. Fire does not spread or destroy blocks. Creepers and other explosions such as TNT don’t destroy blocks above sea level. Grief Prevention prevents planting trees on platforms in the sky (can be known as “tree grief”.)
It is impossible to trap another player inside a land claim. Land claims beyond the first require a golden shovel. A minimum claim size prevents sprinkling small claims throughout the world to annoy other players. Max claim allowance grows with time played on the server and cannot be cheated by being AFK or idling.
Grief Protection also includes many things to enhance and protect the server as a whole. Grief Protection will ban any griefer’s, using their IP address and all of their accounts as well. Grief Protection also automatically mutes new-to-server players who use racial or homophobic slurs.
Grief Protection allows PvP protections within a claim. While PvP is off, there is no setting fire or dumping lava near other players. There is a bulletproof anti-spawn-camping protection that includes bed respawns. There is no logging out, stashing items, or using teleportation to escape combat.
